Between You And I.

From that first moment I saw you, our worlds far apart,
An unquiet yearning stirred within this one's heart.
Though we caught our first glimpses 'cross a great divide;
Alas you stood on one bank, I on the other side.

For what lay between us; a tumultuous ocean;
Of fears, self doubts and raw, unchecked emotion.
Yet you built from your shore, and I from mine,
A lasting testiment 'gainst the ravage of time.

Though my steps oft faltered, so sure I would fall,
Yours were assured, confident, I recall.
Thus our link did not crumble, 'twas sound at the start,
For it led directly from thine to mine heart.

Alliances formed both on friendship and trust,
Ne'er betrayed by jealously, envy nor lust.
Unity and peace surely an attainable goal,
If the bonds between lead to heart and to soul.

Though the waters of doubt may wash at our stone,
The span stands strong, two sides never alone.
Till death do us part; pray that neither shall die,
For the strongest bridges forged are between you and I.
